Trinidad and Tobago are a nation consisting of two islands that lie off the north eastern coast of Venezula in the Caribbean, they are thought to be the most industrialised and one of the most prosperous countries in the Caribbean. The larger island of the two, Trinidad is more industrialised than its smaller sister, nonetheless it is home to largely unspoiled natural beauty, particularly on the North Coast, while Tobago is more aimed at the tourist. Trinidad has wonderful beaches that are made up of powdery white sandy and bordered by clear blue waters, favourite spots include Maracas, Tyrico, and Toco, while the most beautiful beaches are found in Tobago, with hot spots including Pigeon Point, Store Bay and Bucco. There is more culture to be found on Tobago, most notably the Fort George which leads a glimpse into the colonial history of the nation and offers spectacular ocean views. Bucco Reef, found off the north coast of Tobago, is a large colourful reef that is covered by a crystal clear body of water known as the Nylon Pool; glass bottom boat tours are available from Pigeon Point and Store Bay and will take you over the reef for photos and bathing. Back on the large island of Trinidad you’ll find the nation’s capital, Port of Spain and Mathura Beach, in the right season, is dominated by the endangered Leatherback Sea Turtle. Furthermore on the island, families will enjoy Emperor Valley Zoo and the Botanical Gardens, located next to the President’s house; the zoo features a wide variety of tropical species, while the Botanical Gardens carry a large array of plant species.
