The second largest city of Cyprus and the principle fishing port since 1974, Limassol is still an old city at heart, traverse down narrow cobbled lanes surrounded by medieval architecture and soak up the atmospheric feel of times long past. The Old Town has been recently renovated but the traditional feel is still there, settle down in a Greek Taverna or try a Cypriot coffee while people watching. Historic sites in Limassol include the Ancient City of Amathus and the Kolossi Castle, once home to the Knights Templar, the Castle is still vastly intact and makes for an interesting day out. For younger travellers looking for nightlife, Potamos Yermasoyias is a central street lined with cafes, pubs and nightclubs, suitable for all tastes, it can get fairly busy here and the festivities continue well into the morning. For family groups and those looking for sophisticated nightlife the surrounding streets are quieter and offer tranquil evenings with tasteful entertainment.
