The state capital of Selangor, Malaysia is Shah Alam, a vibrant metropolis that has earned the nickname “city of roundabouts”. The city boasts a number of shopping malls and a significant amount of recreational areas, as well as many schools, shops, banks, eateries, cafes, hotels and large hypermarkets. The most notable sight in Shah Alam is the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, the largest mosque in the country and the second largest mosque in Southeast Asia. The mosque is a wonder to behold with four minarets erected in each of its corners and a large blue and silver dome that has earned the mosque the name “The Blue Mosque”. Other attractions in Shah Alam include the Muzium Sultan Alah Shah; the largest museum in the state offering a look at the history of Selangor and some nice miniatures of colonial buildings, the Shah Alah Agricultural Park; a beautiful immaculately maintained park that contains a tropical rainforest and extensive attractions and the Sultan of Selangor’s Palace; an impressive building located on a hill offering wonderful views over the city.
